Press and Grind stands out as a neighborhood coffee shop and bakery nestled on North Highland Avenue in Atlanta's Virginia-Highland area. It’s the kind of place that balances a bustling local vibe with a laid-back charm, making it a reliable spot for both early morning routines and midday breaks.

The interior surprises with its spaciousness and cleanliness, offering more room than you might expect from a café on a busy street. Seating options accommodate solo visitors working on their laptops as well as friends catching up over coffee. A small patio out front provides an inviting perch to watch the steady flow of foot traffic on Highland, lending a casual, people-watching appeal to your visit.

Coffee at Press and Grind is a definite draw, featuring Batdorf & Bronson beans, a detail appreciated by those who care about quality roasts. The menu is diverse, ranging from well-crafted espresso drinks like the Turmeric Tamer—known locally for its unique, invigorating warmth—to plant-forward options like oat milk lattes and matcha. For those mindful of dietary preferences, vegan cakes and gluten-free cinnamon buns offer sweet alternatives without compromise.

Breakfast and brunch here lean into approachable comfort. The customizable bagel and biscuit sandwiches, including vegan and meat-only versions, cater to varied tastes, while the house-made sweet potato biscuit nuggets provide a bite-sized twist on Southern flavors. Smoothies and milk teas add to the range, ensuring there's something refreshing alongside your coffee.

The atmosphere buzzes quietly with a steady stream of locals who appreciate friendly, attentive baristas even on busy mornings. The shop does get a bit understaffed during peak hours, which can mean a short wait, but many find the quality and atmosphere worth it—especially if you're in the mood to savor a carefully prepared turmeric latte or settle in with a pastry that feels more homemade than mass-produced.

Ideal timing to visit is mid-morning or early afternoon, when there’s room to spread out a laptop or enjoy a relaxed catch-up without the heavier rush of the breakfast crowd. Whether you’re a remote worker seeking a reliable workspace, someone looking for a casual brunch, or just after a solid cup of coffee on a crisp Atlanta morning, Press and Grind fits smoothly into the neighborhood rhythm.

Great coffee & pastries... service is nice & friendly. Very clean inside and larger than you would think. They have a small patio out front so you can watch all the passerby folks on Highland. The coffee is very good and the pastries are awesome/large portions. Bonus... the use Batdorf & Bronson coffee.

Great atmosphere in heart of VaHi. Nice selection of tasty sandwiches and baked goods. Friendly staff. I tried the turmeric tamer and that got my whole circulatory system singing in a good way!

Stopped by to finish up some work on my laptop after an early lunch. Great remote work environment, plenty of seating, and PASTRIES that taste a little like home. The pumpkin spice latte was pretty tasty too. Not too sweet, not too milky. It was different from other PSL I’ve had this season. Great coffee shop overall! Oh and I almost forgot you can miss the building if you don’t pay attention. Lol.

The baristas are great, but this place is understaffed. There's a wait even with two barristas working quickly and efficiently. However, it's worth the wait to get the Turmeric Tamer because it's one of the best hot drinks in town. Truly.
